| Made In New Mexico! is proud to host FREE wireless Internet throughout
the historic Taos Plaza. When visiting Taos, you're invited to use your laptop
computer to log in and check your email or surf the web for up to 2 hours
each day.
DETAILS
The Plaza Wireless Internet Gateway is intended solely for occasional, temporary
use (fewer than ten times per month) by visitors to the Taos Plaza area.
We are not an ISP (Internet Service Provider), but simply a private retail
store providing a free public service for marketing purposes. Therefore,
we cannot afford to provide access to local merchants and their customers.
In addition, we do not wish to compete with the many fine local ISP's in
Taos, so we restrict access to the Gateway in several ways:
- The hours of the service are: 9am to 9pm
- You are allowed up to 2 hours of Internet usage per day
- You can log in to the system up to 10 times in any calendar month
- You will be able to download up to 25MB of data per day
- The maximum download speed per user is 256Kbps. The maximum upload speed
is 64Kbps. If there are several users on the system at the same time as you
are, your maximum speeds may be reduced.
For security reasons, the following restrictions apply:
- The only open ports are 80, 443, and 110
- You must provide a valid email address in order to access the Gateway...we
will preven your computer's network card from computing on our system if
you give us a bad email.
- To prevent unauthorized "spamming" over our system, you will be able to check
your email with your email software, but you will not be able to send outbound
email; please use your Internet Service Provider's "web mail" feature to
send mail
- FTP services are not available
- The Taos Plaza Webcam will not be viewable while you are logged into the
Gateway
